Acolytes/Servers:
Children and
adults who wish to assist in worship can offer their services as
servers at Holy Eucharist.
Altar Guild:
This group
of women assists the rector in various ways by preparing the church for
worship. This preparation includes caring for liturgical vessels,
arranging flowers, caring for linens and vestments, and setting up for
Holy Eucharist, weddings, funerals, and all other services.
Alternative Gift
Fair: The purpose
of this event, which takes place in November, is to direct our
Christmas giving toward those in need. We work through cooperatives
that use third-world craftspeople or agencies that give aid to the
poor. Help is needed in setting up the display booths and in
coordinating the event.
Chalice Bearers:
Lay
members of the parish administer the chalice at Eucharist.
Choir: The
adult choir is
composed of Lawrence University
students and volunteers from the parish. All are welcome to come and
sing.
Christmas Pageant:
Older
children and parents are needed to help oversee the children during
rehearsal and at the pageant on Sunday, December 16, at the 10:00 a.m.
service. During Advent
you can also help by sewing and altering
costumes.
Coffee Hour Hosts: After all 10:00
a.m. services, refreshments are served. Parishioners are assigned to
bring the food and serving tea and coffee.
Lectors:
Lay members who feel they
have talents for leading public worship can begin by becoming lectors,
those who read the lessons.
Parish Nurse:
A
registered nurse who facilitates the holistic health of a congregation
and in so doing reclaims the healing ministry of the church. The parish
nurse (pictured) focuses on the spiritual, emotional
and physical dimensions of persons as they strive to achieve wellness
and to manage their illness. The parish nurse develops a practice in
response to the unique needs and priorities of a congregation and its
members across the life span. The parish nurse functions as an
educator, a counselor, a referral agent and an advocate.
Prayer
Group: This group meets
weekly for group prayer and to update an intercessory prayer list,
which members of the fellowship
agree to use in their daily prayers.
Prayer
Shawl Ministry: Shawls (oictured) are
knit or crocheted and given to those who are ill.
Stephen Ministry:
Lay
caregivers (called Stephen Ministers) provide one-to-one Christian care
to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced,
unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge.
Sunday School
Teachers: Sunday School meets every Sunday during
the school year at 9:00 a.m. except for Palm Sunday and Easter; it
includes children from nursery through the eighth grade There are also
opportunities to help with special projects and to substitute teach.
Youth
Group: Students in the Youth Group, 7th-12th grades, meet weekly
for
fun, fellowship, worship, and service projects. The youth are
encouraged to invite friends who may not be members of All Saints.
Adults are needed for special projects, trips, to provide food and to
help with the meetings.
Ushers:
Two ushers are assigned to
serve at the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. liturgies.
